The Isle of the Fairies

You learn something new every day. No co-incidence then that we launched our Fairies, Elves & Unicorns workshops on the Isle of Arran last week, aka the Isle of the Fairies. Legend says that when crossing a humpback bridge on Arran, it's courtesy to greet the fairies and similarly when leaving, to bid them farewell. So, eight kids, three hours and a magical mix of wonder. Exhausted but exhilarated. Gearing up for our next one on the 9th August. As well as the fairy treasure hunt and the crafting of the magic box, the children set about creating a unicorn in the outdoor glass mosaic at The Burnside Gallery. It reminded us of the beautiful wide-eyed innocence kids possess, and since we've left cynicism far behind us in our previous worlds, it was a joy to behold. Mind you 5am starts to catch a 7am ferry certainly knocks it out of you! And so to Balloch on the Saturday for the Lomond Festival's Craft Fair. What an atmosphere in the town! And the rain stayed away right until the moment we were packing up the Lunicornmobile. Sunday it was off the Botanic Gardens Craft Fair in the Hopkirk Building which was just buzzing all day. Those guys at Bullwood (see links pages) really know a thing or two about organisation.
We've got some new items in the Lunicorn range.....lots of people have been asking us if we had any 'tarot' bags to keep their cards in, so seeing this as a sign, our wonderful pals at Tir na nOg sourced some lush deep purple velvet bags with a silver embroidered unicorn for us, and we're pleased to say, they're selling well. Plus thank you to the lady we met at The Tall Ship who advised us to start stocking Nag Champa incense. Since Friday we've sold over twenty packs, and have just ordered another 100. With some help from fabulous Joe at Bullwood, we will soon have some new hand-crafted unicorn 'believe' keyrings made from reclaimed Glasgow wood, specifically from the branch of a ewe tree. Watch this space.
Well we're about to savour the delights of our friend Jennifer's cupcakes so must trot off and comb our manes.
Fairy kisses and unicorn wishes to all readers

ah, we can now comment on the cupcake. This was no ordinary cupcake. This was fluffy pink icing sugared splendour. And we've since offered to others, and the professional opinion, was yes, time to give up the day job and move over to the light side...!
