Moons and Junes and Ferris Wheels...
"...the dizzy dancing way that you feel". Ok, we'll stop the Jonifest (in a bit). Oh, but isn't that a great line?
"as every fairy tale comes true, I've looked at love that way. But now it's just another show, and you leave them laughing when you go, and if you can, don't let them know, don't give yourself away"
I guess you either love or hate the movie 'Love Actually' but for us here at Lunicorn HQ, we love it, and particularly that powerful scene with Emma Thompson when she realises Alan Rickman's character is cheating on her. And what does she do, she listens to Joni Mitchell and 'Both Sides Now'...we rest our case. Well, not quite, as we'll return to that later. It's basically about totally believing in someone or something and then realising it's smacked you in the face, or has it? Discuss.
I guess we're just feeling a little bit jaded. Probably need to go have a rest, a few days away, but work commitments are such and our mission (as we HAVE chosen to accept it) pushes us onwards and upwards. At the moment we're feeling surrounded by unnecessary complications. Life really IS too short, and what we've learned through Lunicorn is to enjoy the moment and not get embroiled in irritation. But then Mercury IS still in retrograde, so perhaps we should just go with the flow.
Feel like we've started off this blog on a negative, but then a few of those ions do no harm to balance the positive.
Goodness, workshops galore these days, we've had enquiries from Centerparcs, councils and fantastic venues. Adults, kids, weary corporates, aliens, we do it all.
Enjoyed a fab veggie brekkie at Tir na nOg last weekend, but then we were doing a review for The Witch Hiker (issue 2 out in August), and as we were also hosting our stall there, we have some amusing anecdotes. Sandwiched between Laura Lucky Cats soaps etc. (whose gorgeous son Tevye has just booked onto our next children's workshop at Gather) and Kendal of crystals fame, the conversation was animated to say the least. Particularly when a customer of Kendal's (Phillips) sampled his famed 'no flour' cake. Well, an hour later, as he continued to regale the recipe and was just about to move onto Lemon Meringue Pie, we chuckled and thought of alternative names for him. How about Fanny Phillips, Kendal Craddock, Delia Crystals? Anyhoo, we've had other highlights of late, not least of which was one Lunicorn with tiger energy. Steady tiger - where there are face paints, the Lunicorns will play, and so it was at the Gather marketplace, that despite being fortysomething (heard Ken Dodd on parky tonight saying age means nothing, unless you're a cheese) one Lunicorn decided to become a tiger. Worryingly most people still recognised her. Having been likened to Johnny Depp in previous lives, she has no fear of becoming a pirate for the next Gather marketplace on June 30th. (see our links page for details, or even our calendar)
August Body & Soul at The Concert Hall in Glasgow is when we're set to launch our brand spanking new cd - all will be revealed in the Witch Hiker in August. Suffice to say it's very exciting, and thank you to Allan and Ewan in advance.
Congratulations to Rachael and her new job. They are so lucky to have her. Thank you Agenes for our abundance balloon and you and Margaret know what you have done recently, and for that we thank you again. Nikki, what can we say? You're such a good 'un and we think recent feedbacks and written testimonials speak volumes about your talents, not to mention our own intuition. Sandra at Studio 26, thank you for believing in the essence of our products.
We met such an interesting woman today, who talked to us about self-belief. She was a random passer by at our stall in Kilbirnie. And she noticed our unicorn oracle cards, and started to tell us how she'd given her son something similar when he was growing up. Then she talked about 'giving', not to 'receive', but just to give. And if we're not WHOLE in ourselves we can't possibly begin to 'give' without healing ourselves first. Last night, with a wee ritual we asked (thanks to our friend Agenes) the 'big boys' for some advice and some signs, and then we met this woman (Mary) today. So that's kind of sounding like a sign, isn't it? And then, from one extreme to the other, we listened to Take That's 'Patience' - good lyrics. And on that lyric note, we'll leave you with..."oh, but now old friends are acting strange, and they shake their heads and they tell me that I've changed, well something's lost, but something's gained, in living every day"
So with rose and flows of angel air and Ice Cream Castles in the Air, we bid you goodnight.
The Lunicorns
