JK Rawks!

Yes, we were there in a queue at midnight on Friday awaiting the last Harry Potter instalment from the pen of J.K. Rowling. We've been there from the beginning. A friend, back in 1997 sent me a copy of "Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone", and inside was a compliment slip saying simply "Try this for therapy". So it was somewhat emotional on Friday night awaiting my copy of "The Deathly Hallows". The girl in front of us, same age, was red-eyed and had told her boyfriend to leave her alone all weekend. She said she didn't know whether to read it or leave it. I suspect like me, she stayed up all night on Friday and began to devour. Similarly on Saturday and then it was last night that I finished the gripping tale. Relieved that I knew, annoyed that I'd reached my destination so very quickly. So many layers, so many messages, Ms Rowling is definitely a light worker and she certainly answered the call when it came all those years ago on that train to Manchester. You've probably read more than enough on Harry Potter this weekend in the press, or are engaged with the reading of the all important pages, so I will leave it there.
Visited an old haunt near Lochwinnoch last week - Muirshiel Country Park. Climbed to Windy Hill amidst the mist and the rain, and felt as we descended and looked back that we had just been to Brigadoon. Met an honorary druid in the form of Bob and learned all about Harrier Hens.
Went to meet our friend Allan, composer extraordinaire, at the weekend, who was ready to unleash the music he'd been working on to accompany the vocal on our cd. It was perfect, like he'd channelled it. Truly, working with professionals like Allan and Ewan, makes tasks so much more enjoyable. Our friend Dr Roy told us earlier this year, that it's often the things that take the least effort that prove to be the most significant. And how true that has been with our cd. Though I'm not sure Allan would agree, by his own admission, he's not good with deadlines.
Visited Balmaha last week too and went for a pensive walk around the loch.
We're off for more workshops on Arran next week, then it's into August and the big one with Body & Soul at the Royal Concert Hall. I wonder what Diana Cooper (special guest) will think of our unicorn cd?
And so, time to go and arrange my Harry Potter books in order. I seem to be missing the Goblet of Fire, so if I've lent it to anyone, and that person happens to be reading this, please return.
I'm assuming our patronus would be a unicorn, but luckily we've never had to cast it....yet!

Drop some sugar in my bowl...

So, sticking with the song lyric theme, this one's from Nina of the Simone and "some sweetness in my soul" and indeed this is what the Lunicorns have enjoyed over the past week or so.
Inspired by Pat Butcher in tonight's ep of 'Enders, we feel compelled to compare life at the moment to a game of poker. That said, the Lunicorn's would probably fold at this point and not engage with the game, however, let's assume we'd play on...and if so, we'd be upping the money to maintain our 'blind' status. Crikey, why is everyone so interested in seeing our cards? That said, we've got one heckofa hand to play, and play it we will, when the time is right. So there!
Onto other recent news. Well, we've just returned from the beautiful Isle of Anglesey. Sleepy pubs, long walks and a wee bit of sunshine. Red Wharf Bay was our favourite, watching the boats bob in the water in the morning, and then high and dry by lunchtime. Such are the tides of Benllech! Still, it meant we were able to walk home from the famous 'Ship Inn' across the vast sands and listen to the crashing waves. Afore that, we found ourselves in Liverpool and admiring the Liver Birds at the Pier Head. As we approached the Ferry, we were greeted by a piping of 'Ferry across the Mersey'. No matter whether you're from that manor or not, it IS moving hearing that song. Call us sentimental! Had lunch in the Albert Dock in the Ha Ha bar and visited the famed Jacaranda and the Heebie Geebies (one Lunicorn has familial associations with the latter two so it was particularly touching to see the John Lennon murals in the Jac). And on that note, the John Lennon Airport's mission statement is 'Above us only sky'. Just imagine, how cool? I wonder if in Glasgow, we should change ours to 'Welcome to Glasgow Airport - above us only Skye'.
Met a fabulous true Welshman called Cyril, who talked about Bobby Burns and the merits of John Smith.
Oooooooooh, back here in Lunicorn land, we're very excited about our new cd out next month. It's our first Unicorn meditation for children and the two meditations are entitled 'The Rainbow and the Ribbon Tree' and 'The Wishing Lake in the Sky'. Officially launched at Body & Soul in Glasgow, copies available from us direct or at a variety of stockists. Entirely channelled and developed by Lunicorn with a bit bit of help from musician impressario Allan James and design by the extremely artistically talented Ewan Burnside. And this is just the first of many, so watch this space.
Congrats to Rach and James with their new pad, to mr and mrs Witch hiker with issue 2, to Andy (you must be loved up because we haven't heard from you), and to all the decent good people out there who occasionally happen upon our blog and even more sporadically leave a comment....
Workshop on Sunday at Gather for the weans and following week for kids at Studio 26 and then for adults too back at Gather. Can you seriously resist?
Drenched dandelions of summer and lots of loveliness.
